Health & Wellness Coaching
What is Health & Wellness Coaching?
Health & wellness coaching is a collaborative process where through a series of sessions, clients are supported on their journey forward towards their ideal vision of holistic health & wellness. The client is the master of their own health & wellness and only they can determine the sustainable changes necessary that align with their values and motivation! As such, the coach’s role is not to instruct client’s what to do (although they can offer some resources and education when requested), but rather it is to provide accountability and support for people on their wellness journey.
Health & wellness coaching is not counseling or therapy. Coaching is a growth-promoting partnership where coaches use evidence-based methods that foster conversations about positive change. Through this process, which may include goal setting and visioning, the coach holds space in each session for the client to explore ways to maximize their health & wellness.
The health & wellness coaching industry is rapidly growing. While coaching has been available for several decades, it wasn’t until 2012 when an industry standard was set for health & wellness coaching by The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC).
I have been trained to the highest standards in the industry and I have a certification in health & wellness coaching from an NBHWC approved training program. Currently, I am preparing for the Summer 2025 NBHWC board examination which is offered in partnership with NBHWC and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

FAQs
What is Health & Wellness Coaching?
Health and wellness coaching is a growing industry focused on helping individuals achieve their health and wellness goals through evidence-based positive behavior change methods. It is designed to help people explore their own insights, strengths and resources to guide them in a forward moving direction towards their vision of a healthy life.
What Takes Place During a Coaching Session?
In a coaching session, a coach and the client explore various topics together, including the path to making desired changes concerning the client’s overall health and wellness. This is done by talking in a supportive and judgement-free session, either on the phone or video conference. The evidence-based health and wellness coaching approach used utilizes the person’s own strengths and values empowering them to move toward their vision of health and wellness.
Is Coaching Like Counseling or Therapy?
No. Health & wellness coaching is not counseling or therapy. Whereas counseling and therapy traditionally focus on the past, coaching focuses on the present and future. Coaching helps people set and achieve the SMART goals related to their health & wellness which they choose to set for themselves. The coach is your accountability partner on the journey.
It’s important to note that in coaching, the coach will not prescribe medical treatment, provide medical care, or otherwise diagnose, treat or cure any physical or mental disease/condition. A coach is a mentor and accountability partner. A coach does not act in the capacity of or replace the need for a doctor or psychologist, and clients should always discuss any lifestyle changes with a licensed medical professional.
How Long Does Coaching Last?
A typical coaching relationship will last anywhere from one to six months, depending on the person’s needs and goals. We offer coaching packages that range from 1-4 months long.
The first coaching session with each person is called a Discovery session and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Each additional session is called a Step and lasts approximately 25 minutes.
We intentionally designed our coaching sessions to be brief because most people are already limited on time to begin with. By establishing 25 minute sessions, people can more easily work them into their busy schedules and not feel overwhelmed by adding another commitment to the calendar.
How Much Does Coaching Cost?
The cost of health & wellness coaching will depend on the package selected. People can expect to invest as little as $180 for a one month Kickstart Journey package or up to $440 for an Extended Journey package. Prices are subject to change and are provided to each client in a coaching agreement before any sessions begin.
